| The Coast is looking for a freelance reporter to cover the city in a fresh way. This journalist's stories will use current events as an excuse to go out and discover Haligonians who are doing fascinating things or who have unusual perspectives. The mandate is to be topical, local, personal and unusual. Yes, it's a big mandate, but this is a big town. The right person for this assignment likes meeting people, is comfortable doing interviews in person, and is a sharp writer whose tools include a sense of humor. To apply, email a cover letter detailing your journalism experience---with links to clippings---and complete the following story assignment: 1) Suggest the name of a local person and explain why they would be interesting to talk with in relation to the recent earthquake in Chile. 2) Suggest an interesting way to touch on the Olympics locally. 3) Suggest a local person under 30 who is just plain interesting.
