The Hospice Society of Greater Halifax needs YOU to walk on Sunday May 2nd! The annual Hike for Hospice, in conjunction with National Hospice Palliative Care Week, starts at 2pm at 9 Spring Street in Bedford, This is the location of our newly acquired home which we are working towards making the first free-standing hospice facility in Nova Scotia. Prizes will be awarded to the top individual and team fundraisers! All proceeds go toward the expansion of hospice palliative care and bereavement programs in our community. Summer Employment: The Harrison Lewis Coastal Discovery Centre (www.HarrisonLewisCentre.org) seeks the services of an exceptional Cook and Caretaker from mid-May 2010 to mid-September. Approximately 30 flexible hours per week, over weekends when programming requires. Duties and responsibilities are wide-ranging. In addition to being able to cook tasty, wholesome meals for up to 20, the right person for this job willingly pitches in wherever needed, be it with housekeeping, maintenance, in the office, or in the garden. EAC Energy/Climate Coordinator

The Ecology Action Centre (EAC) is seeking a permanent and full-time energy and climate change coordinator. The EAC is a leading voice within the province of Nova Scotia on climate change and energy policy. The EAC promotes sustainable energy to meet environmental goals, while enhancing the economic development of Nova Scotian communities. The Energy and Climate Change Coordinator will principally focus on energy and climate change policy in the electricity, industrial and building sectors. Responsibilities also include project development, coalition building, coordination and fundraising in cooperation with Atlantic Canadian and national partners, the EAC‘s Energy Issues Committee and energy project staff. Immigrant Literacy Instructor

Frontier College is a national, non-profit literacy organization. We work with children, teens, adults and families to improve their literacy skills.Frontier College partners with Citizenship and Immigration Canada to deliver the Immigrant Families Learning Together Program within the Halifax Regional Municipality. This project involves one-to-one instruction, group work and working with children and youth through homework assistance and reading circles. Literacy services are offered through instructor-led classes and by matching learners and tutors. Major Duties and Responsibilities: • Work with Frontier College staff to deliver and evaluate the program. • Screen and assess participants. • Ensure that training resources and supports are available and appropriate. • Design and deliver instruction in preparation for groups of learners.
